This trip, to Sydney, didn’t begin at the coach terminal on the morning of Friday 3rd of April 1998. All members were mentally on the “Vampire Express” weeks before.Liz and I travelled to Melbourne, from Violet Town, the evening before to avoid being delayed by the morning peak hour traffic. It would have been an extra very long day otherwise.

Gail Madigan, Sherryn Danaher, Terry and Wendy Hadkiss and Geoff Eagles, who I had not seen since Vietnam days. I had to pinch myself; I just could not believe that after all these years we could see each other again. Gee, the years have been good to him. Must be all those holidays that school Eventually the day arrived and surprise, surprise everyone was on time and we were able to depart 10 minutes early. Those at theSpencer Street coach terminal were Bob and Maria Glaubitz, Peter and teachers get, hey Geoff? At the Campbellfield Truck Stop we picked up Col Brittain, Merv and Kay Prior. As we had made good time, and we had all had an early start, it was decided to have a quick cuppa here. Did I say ‘quick’? Well it was meant to be, anyway! Our next stop was at Kilmore to pick-up our co-driver Graham Knell and his wife Deidre.Knellie immediately made his presence felt by directing some good humoured, derogatory remarks at the driver.  These were duly noted and cheerfully returned at the appropriate time.By 10.30am we were in Euroa where, much to the delight of Terry, Peter, Geoff and Co., we stocked the Esky with enough ammo for the trip.By this time all had settled into bus travelling mode, talking, reading and for Liz and Deidre – sleeping! As for Terry, well drinking VB would do him. At 12.30 we reached Albury, where Dave Watson, Janet and Steven Fisicaro completed our group. Lunch was taken at Lavington, on the northern outskirts of Albury, and then Knellie took the wheel. During the afternoon the girls chatted and got to know each other and the blokes, well, it was “Do you remember this?” and “Do you remember that?”. Time was spent showing photos and it was “Who’s this?” and “Who’s that?” and “Remember him?” etc. As for Terry, well as long as there was a VB close at hand he was happy. Terry was a T.F. (Cook) at Healesville for two years and has adopted our Association. Good on ya, mate! After several toilet stops, including the Old Dog on the Tuckerbox Tourist Bit at Gundagai, we arrived in Goulburn at approx 5.30pm. It had been a very pleasant afternoon and everyone was looking forward to our arrival at Hunt’s, where the Reunion, that we had all been anticipating for so long, was about to begin! By 8pm we arrived at Hunt’s, the last hour having seemed to take forever. However, we made it! Most of us joined Bob Bell and Co. at the Chinese Restaurant, next door to Hunt’s, before the activities commenced on Saturday, and you know the rest. Message To: Bob and Denise Bell, Paul and Sherryn Danaher Our sincere thanks for all your efforts and planning for the Reunion. Memories of this event will last for life. Thanks guys.
