Theo DeChaufepie (1AFH 6/71-11/71) THANK YOU! It was great to see and reminisce with friends and comrades, some who I have not had contact with for some twenty seven years or so. It was absolutely fabulous! Morris Robinson (1AFH12/70-12/71) Thanks for a great few days. See you at the next one. Great to meet everyone and share some great times together.
Tom Byrne (1AFH 4/71-11/71) I have fond memories of the reunion, despite the grog, and I am sure they will stay with me for a long time. We are certainly lucky people to have the comradeship of so many brothers and sisters in arms. I feel that the general public, who have not experienced service like ours, would be unlikely to experience the mateship and brotherly affection that was present at our reunion. Marie Boyle(Red Cross 7/67-3/68, 6/69-7/68) Congratulations and thankyou for organising such a wonderful weekend for us all. I am sure my sentiments are those of all who attended the ‘Return of the Vampire’ Reunion. I really enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting so many others from 1 Aust Field Hosp. Harry (1AFH1971) 1/5/98 - Just a few lines to say I had a bloody great time. Sorry I’m late but I only just got home from Sydney. Di Badcock (1AFH 2/69-2/70) Thankyou for a very wonderful weekend. Trish Ferguson (1AFH 2/70-11/70) The reunion is still on everyone’s lips. It was more beneficial for people than I think you can ever realize. Trevor McGaw (1AFH 69/70) Just a short note to compliment you on the organisation of the recent Vampire Reunion. I initially had reservations about attending, but as the time approached I looked back over the newsletters you had sent and remembered a few old names. Having attended and met lots of old mates – reminiscing, telling and hearing some good yarns, I am glad I attended and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. To anyone who did not attend or had doubts, I can certainly say it was well worth the effort and I will definitely be at the next gathering in two years. Shirley Rae (1AFH 6/71-12/71) Thankyou very much for the wonderful Reunion weekend. I loved every day of it. Don Quick (1AFH 6/69-6/70) Both Dot and I had a wonderful and exciting time, catching up with old friends and meeting members of the unit we have never met before. The wonderful experience of the weekend will live in our hearts forever, the whole weekend was a tremendous success from when we first arrived on the Friday till Monday, and what a wonderful finish the Harbour Cruise was to an excellent weekend. All present enjoyed themselves. Bob, I have written a short note to the CO 1Fd Hosp in appreciation of the wonderful Parade on the Sunday. COL Peter Byrne (1AFH 69) Just a short note to say how impressed I was with all the details of organization on the weekend at Liverpool. The whole thing was an outstanding success. The modern 1Fd Hosp I think is an excellent organization. The Parade was brilliant. It shows that the Army Health Services are quite capable of matching it with any section of the Australian Army on a Parade ground. Thankyou for having me at the Reunion Celebrations, it was most certainly a privilege to be present. MAJ Ivan Scholes (1AFH 1/70-11/70) Many thanks to the President, The Executive, their wives and all those who contributed in producing such a memorable Reunion of the 1st (Aust) field Hospital. Graham Knell (1AFH 6/69-6/70) Just a short note to say congratulations on your excellent organisation and planning to make the weekend in Sydney a great success! Personally, thankyou for the thought, effort and sacrifices you have made to make the Association a “go-er!” Ann Hall ( 1AFH 6/69-6/70) Gratitude and best wishes for the wonderful weekend reunion. I’m sure many late nights, frustration and hardwork went into the event, which everybody seemed to have enjoyed and I am sure many more of us will meet up again in Brisbane. Butch Cassidy (SVN 11/70-12/71) Comment during the reunion re: announcement that Butch was leaving the boat: - “Oh, Mate!” Comment about the Reunion made during a post-reunion phone call: - “Oh, Mate!” (We gather from these comments that Butch had a great time.) Dick Jeziorny (SVN 70/71) Congratulations on a really wonderful weekend. It was a joyous and grand event to be a part of, with generous amounts of camaraderie, drinking and intrigue. Dave Stevenson(SVN 70/71) What a great success! The weekend was the birth of what will continue for many years. |
