After the cutting of the “Vampire Birthday Cake” we finished off the day’s activities at Holsworthy  reporting for duty at the Sgt’s Mess. The only duty being that of promoting the camaraderie between the old and the new, not to mention the wetting of parched throats.

MONDAY, April 6th
We boarded the Princess Vagabond for a Sydney Harbour Luncheon Cruise. Sydney Harbour was at its absolute best, the food magnificent and the crowd even better. There was much laughter and merriment as those on the cruise enjoyed the last hours of the weekend. One moment that stands out from the rest was when Butch Cassidy had to leave the cruise early to catch his flight home. As the boat pulled in to the Opera House Dock, and after Butch had circled the boat twice to say his good-byes, the President grabbed hold of the microphone and announced “Butch Cassidy is leaving the boat”. Butch slowly walked down the gangplank to the cheers and applause of everyone on the cruise. (Butch told me later that he was totally overwhelmed by this). The reality of the weekend coming to a close began to hit home for all at this stage. The cruise was an absolutely magical way to finish off a brilliant weekend. (Not withstanding those “Lost at the Reunion” people who missed the return bus, and one case of delayed sea sickness)
